Being grateful

November 19, 2016

First of all, I’m grateful that today is Saturday, and that I’ve decided to set aside work until Monday morning. I’ve worked a lot this week, and I’m tired.. Amazingly, I did get some good stuff done today.

I most likely will not write this coming Saturday. We’ll be with friends. So I am going to do my grateful post today.

  • I have an awesome family, all of whom I know loves me and would do anything for me.. And I still know this when they drive me crazy, which they do from time to time. If I didn’t have family, how would I be an aunt? And being an aunt is one of my greatest joys.
  • I also have a great church family. Church is how I spend most Of the time when I’m not working. I have a lot of really good friends within our church. And that is a blessing to me.
  • I’m also very grateful to have a communication device which allows me to do so much on my own. I can sit and keep myself busy most the day without needing much help from anyone else. And I love it.

Another Saturday, more thinking

November 12, 2016

Saturdays I usually do several things for work. I always do my business blog and check e-mail.. I always do that first to make sure it gets done. I’m usually pretty tired by Saturday, and today is certainly no exception to that.

And no, I wasn’t one of the people to stay up really late Tuesday night to see what happened and who won. We do not have cable as far as the tv is concerned, and I didn’t want to be in my wheelchair way late… I have been praying a lot about the elections for sure. I was personally pleased with the outcome.. But I know a lot of people are not happy about it at all.. Obviously, there is more rioting, which is never a good thing.

How much of my political thinking comes from my family? I’m not sure. I’ve never gone to college, have never lived away from my parents. I have a pretty small group of friends from church.. Most everyone I spend time with are conservative Christians.. How much am I influenced by that? I don’t know.

I am very much against abortion.. I am against the redefinition of marriage. I believe that this country needs to get a more balanced budget. I believe that we need to be careful about who we let into this country to make sure that everyone is safe.. And I am reading through the headlines most days, started doing earlier this year so that I would know how to vote. And yes, I also talked to people I trust about this.

I’m praying for healing for this nation.

Working from home

November 5, 2016

We were with dear friends who are going through a rough time last weekend. I kind of ran through everything I had to do for work, but didn’t do much else.. But anyway..

For the most part, I really like being able to work anywhere I have my communication device and wifi. It’s nice to be able to be able to go somewhere, and still be able to get some things done. while still enjoying friends.. And as a disabled person, it’s great to have everything right here where I can get to it without having to ask anyone for anything. I can work by myself for hours on end..

The thing that I do find kind of frustrating is that some weeks I don’t really leave my neighborhood much. My aides take me for walks so that I do get out of the house most days. But we’re still trying to find a good home group situation for me.. But I have kind of a surprise thing to do tonight. Tomorrow is church and then an afternoon with friends… I enjoy this life for the most part. I like getting things done, and then going off and having fun.
